Recreational Opportunities

The DeWitt Area offers an abundance of recreational opportunities from sports programs and summer day camps to miniature golf and PGA championship golf courses.

DeWitt Area Recreation Authority (DARA) promotes community and quality of life through leisure services provided for the DeWitt Community. DARA offers a large variety of youth and adult sports programs, special events, holiday-themed programs and annual shows. DARA sports programs are designed to benefit the participants in a variety of ways from learning sportsmanship and teamwork skills, building character and respect, practicing positive fitness habits and most importantly, by having fun. Youth Sports Programs, Adult Sports Programs, Summer Day Camps, Big Truck Day, Concerts in the park, Senior Activities, Hunter Safety Classes, Holiday Craft Programs, and Special Events.

Hawk Hollow Golf Properties.
Hawk Hollow offers 27holes of championship golf, two full service driving ranges, short game practice area, clubhouse, and PGA golf professional. Eagle Eye Golf Club offers 18 holes of championship golf, driving range, putting greens, PGA golf professional, clubhouse, and locker rooms with showers. The Falcon offers a 9 hole “links style” golf course. Little Hawk offers a par 54 Bentgrass putting course. Hawk Hollow also offers a Golf Academy including instruction for groups and individuals. Woodside Golf Course stretches over 146 acres along Wood Road just south of Clark Road in DeWitt Township and represents Michigan’s first 12-hole golf course.

Sleepy Hollow State Park contains over 2,600 acres including a river winding its way through the woods, fields and trails. Lake Ovid nestled in the middle of it all was developed by damming the Little Maple River and covers 410-acres. The park offers a year-round opportunity for recreation with 181 modern campsites.

Trails that take you through prairie grasses, hardwood forest, and stands of pine trees: 16 miles of hiking/biking, and 6.5 miles for horseback riding and dog sledding. Metal detecting area. In addition to the activities listed above, snowshoeing is a popular activity at the park. 

Floating beach wheelchair and Amigo scooter available for use while visiting the park. No rental cost. Two accessible hunting blinds, one is a ground blind and one is a hydraulic lift blind. They can be reserved by calling the park at 517-651-6217.
